The National Labour Inspectorate (“PIP”) is increasing the number of inspections of lawful employment and detecting fewer irregularities
In 2025, PIP completed over 31,000 inspections representing a 9% year-on-year increase. A total of 168,000 workers were inspected, nearly 13% more than the previous year.
PIP data shows that the number of irregularities has fallen. Unlawful employment was detected for 13,600 Polish citizens and 5,700 foreign nationals, representing a year-on-year decrease of 6.8% and 19.4% respectively.
Among Poles, the most common irregularities were failure to register for social security or delays in doing so (13,553 cases). For foreign nationals, the most common issues were the lack of a required work permit (3,996 cases) and working under conditions other than those specified in a permit (1,157 cases).
The highest number of irregularities in the employment of foreign nationals was recorded in construction, administrative services, and manufacturing. Among Poles, the highest numbers were in services, accommodation and catering, and construction.
