Ministerial announcement: less paperwork for employees who lose a newborn

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has set up a team to prepare solutions to support parents who suffer a miscarriage or the death of a child shortly after birth. The ministry wants to simplify the current legal procedures so that this group of parents receives care and is not burdened with unnecessary formalities.

Currently, women who have suffered a miscarriage must know the sex of the child (required for the necessary medical documentation) in order to claim their rights, such as eight weeks’ maternity leave. The ministerial team will propose deleting this requirement, thus making it easier for female employees to exercise their rights.
