Employment of foreign citizens in Poland - 2024
The Labour Market Department at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has published data on the employment of foreign citizens in Poland for 2024. These statistics confirm that the number of foreign citizens finding employment in Poland continues to grow.
Poland remains one of the most attractive labour markets for foreign citizens in Europe.
In 2024:
- 322,941 work permits were issued, a slight increase on the 2023 figure of 320,600.
- Most work permits were issued in the following provinces:
- Mazowieckie (79 538),
- Łódzkie (42 749),
- Małopolskie (38 736),
- Śląskie (33 140).
- The structure of citizens receiving work permits is changing, which indirectly results from the possibility of employing citizens from Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Moldova and Georgia under simplified procedures (notifications and declarations on entrusting work). Accordingly, citizens from the following countries received the largest number of work permits in 2024:
- Philippines (approximately 37,900),
- Colombia (approximately 37,900),
- India (approximately 33,900),
- Nepal (approximately 31,500),
- Uzbekistan (approximately 26 000),
- Bangladesh (approximately 17,500).
- Sectors employing the most foreign citizens
Employment of foreign citizens is concentrated in the following sectors: -
- industrial processing - 41.22%
- transport and storage - 22.99%
- construction - 11.8%
- administrative services - 11.51%
- Forms of employing foreign citizens
Foreign citizens with work permits predominantly conclude the following types of contracts: -
- contractual agreements - approximately 225,000,
- employment contracts - approximately 90,000.
Figures from the Ministry of Family and Social Policy for 2024 confirm that Poland remains an attractive labour market for foreign citizens. The increase in the number of employees from non-European countries underlines the growing role of foreign citizens on the Polish labour market.
